Project facts.
Opel House · Custom home, design and build by Desert Concepts
Town: Kayenta, Ivins
The story.
The brief
This project is a custom home built by Desert Concepts, shown here as an example of the craft that carries into our remodeling work. A custom home in Kayenta for Jennifer and Bob Opel, built while they lived about 2,000 miles away. The house keeps a low profile with earthy colors that blend into the red rock canyon setting.
The work
Desert Concepts designed and built the home, with regular photo and video updates through construction. Entering the house opens a 280 degree view of the canyons and desert. Diagonal lines in the concrete floor add energy and balance the open plan. Kitchen, living room, guest room and primary bath are shown in the gallery.
The result
A modern desert home with symmetry, concrete floors, tile details and a fire feature, finished for owners who could only visit occasionally during the build.
