Built with care.
Rooted in Kayenta.
1978A foundation in custom home building.
Custom home building since 1978. A father-and-son design-build firm bringing its experience to kitchens, bathrooms and whole homes.
JD Thompson has built high-end custom homes across the Western United States for about four decades, including award-winning homes in the Bay Area, Montana, Jackson Hole, Hawaii and Southern Utah. He began building for Terry Marten, who developed Kayenta from the late 1980s, and was the first builder with a home in Kayenta’s Parade of Homes. He has built custom homes around St. George since 1996, starting with Paiute Springs at Entrada.
Micah Thompson grew up working in Kayenta, helping his father and grandfather during high school summers. His grandfather, Delmar, built some of Kayenta’s first rock walls. Micah began building full time with his father in 2006, worked as a designer at Gulch Design Group, and started Desert Concepts with JD in 2014 with an emphasis on modern design.

Questions.
Where do you work?
Our service area covers eight communities across Washington County, from St. George to Springdale.
Can we stay home during a remodel?
This depends on the rooms affected and access to essential facilities. Discuss a living arrangement and work-zone plan before construction.
How much will my project cost?
We focus on mid to high end remodels. After a site visit we give you a detailed, itemized budget with no hidden costs. Scope, material selections and existing conditions determine the number.
How long does remodeling take?
A project schedule is prepared after scope and selections are agreed. We review the schedule with you at every milestone and update it as the work moves.
